Exterior painting

Exterior painting for block and stucco homes

Most homes here are concrete block with stucco. Sun, rain and mildew wear the paint, so we wash, patch and prime before we paint. Exteriors are priced by the house, after a walk-around or photos of each side.

What the price covers

  • Low-pressure wash to lift mildew and chalk

  • Hairline stucco cracks filled and patched

  • Rust spots and bare wood scraped and primed

  • Two coats of exterior paint, rolled and brushed

  • Plants, cars and windows covered or moved

When we paint outside

The outside painting calendar

Dates are a guide. We watch the forecast and move a day when rain or heat is coming.

  1. 01

    Step 1: October to December

Lower humidity and fewer afternoon storms. A good stretch for exteriors.

  2. 02

    Step 2: January to March

Dry and mild. The best window for stucco and block.

  3. 03

    Step 3: April and May

Still dry, and getting hot. We start early in the morning.

  4. 04

    Step 4: June to November

Afternoon storms and hurricane season. We paint inside, or outside on dry mornings, and tell you when a date moves.

Exterior questions

Do you wash the house first?

Yes. Mildew and chalk keep new paint from sticking, so we wash at low pressure and let the walls dry before we patch and prime. Stucco is never blasted.

How long does an exterior take?

A one-story home usually takes four to six working days, with a day lost for each rain delay. The written price lists the days for your house.

Does my HOA need to approve the color?

Many do. Send us the color names or chips you're considering and we'll give you what the board usually asks for. Approval is yours to get before we start.

Text us a photo of each side of the house

We'll say whether we can price from photos or need to walk around first.
